PROJECT

"Skin", Keyworker Modular Housing, London
Value: Classified
Office: Azhar Architecture
Client: Classified
Experience: Proposal for a Modular Housing for Keyworkers in an aggressive urban site, between a railway line and a busy road. Environmental features, photovoltaic louvres, solar thermal panels, on roof.

Key communal facilities on ground floor, a cafe Bar, a Laundromat, a Swimming Pool, and a Gym, in addition a roof garden is provided.

The ground floor is open to the public, and acts as a a common resource as a compliment to the "compact" living on offer within the keyworker modules above. The building is wrapped in a "skin" consisting of a series of louvres made from compressed "bamboo", and acts as a solar and acoustic buffer. Photo voltaic cells are attached to the louvres taking advantage of the southern orientation.
